Need a Nudge to live deeper? Want hacks to save more? There’s so much to learn at camp!
When is it?Camp Mustache Toronto FIREscape is September 7-10 2023
Where is Camp Mustache Toronto held?BIG NEWS! This year we have a new location. The camp property (all 350 acres!) is used as a children’s camp in the summer. It is a little over an hour northeast of Toronto Airport, or 4 hours from the Ottawa airport. Saturday activities include Low Ropes, Canoeing, Kayaking, and Sailing. The property offers trails, art space, fire rings, and everything you would expect at a camper’s camp.
The property is beautiful, and we really think you will love it - however we want you to know that it is really a kids camp. Our last FIREscape may have set hotel expectations, and this is not at all a hotel. If you’ve been to a kid’s summer camp and stayed in camper cabins or bunkhouses, you should have a good idea of what to expect. Your room will be shared with about 4 other campers.
For security reasons, the actual venue location will only be released to ticket holders.
How Much Will Camp Mustache Toronto cost?Tickets for camp will be $340CAD - Note that this event fee is non refundable, and non-transferable after July 1.
The ticket cost includes everything. You just need to bring your clothes and a sleeping bag. But wait… there’s more! If you don’t have room in your luggage for a sleeping bag, those are available to rent from the camp’s supply for a small fee.
While we expect this event will run, and is in a safe, responsible venue, we cannot guarantee what the future holds. This event is entirely volunteer run and not-for-profit. If the event cannot run for reasons beyond our control (disaster, pandemic closures, other situations beyond our control), we will recoup what funds we can from vendors and distribute it to the ticket holders.
How do I get a ticket?CMTO FIREscape tickets will be first come, first served. Once they are gone, they are gone. Given our short timeline, and competing priorities, we simply do not have resources to manage a lottery or waitlist. Watch for the signup email on May 1st, and get your payment in as soon as your registration is confirmed to secure your spot.
What payment options exist?Payment options will be detailed in the forthcoming registration email, however, the most likely will be via bank transfer (Canadians) or PayPal (all participants). Some payment methods may have fees.
How many people are coming? We have about 60 available spots. CMTO has always sold out quickly, generally right after registration opens.
Who Can come?Whoever gets a ticket – All are welcome! Registration opens on May 1, 2023 at 0800EDT and successful registrants will receive an email with registration/payment instructions. Stay tuned to this thread for more info. Your space is only guaranteed once your ticket payment is received.
Can I bring my Spouse/Kids?If you buy them a ticket, yes they can come. All adults pay the same rate. Children’s tickets
(2 - 14 years) 5-14 years are available for $150. Children under
two five years are welcome but
will not have a bunk will be assigned a top bunk (ie, bring a pack n play for small ones).
Can I bring my dog?No. The venue strictly prohibits dogs on the property. Please leave them at home or at a local kennel.
What is included in the registration fee?4 days and 3 nights at CMTO FIREscape including meals and all presentations, participation in the world famous Volley-Hockey-Ball tournament, and a pile of great conversation and story sharing.
What are the presentations? The CMTO FIREscape Organising Committee members are currently planning the sessions and presentations – please reach out if you have an idea for a topic or speaker. There will be topics of general interest to Mustachians, as well as "Core subject matter" such as financials, careers, and post-RE lifestyle. There will be sessions geared to those new to FIRE as well as those farther along in their FIRE journey.
If you can moderate a discussion group, or are interested in sharing a topic, we encourage you to let us know. We are really hoping for some new voices this year.
MealsThe camp runs as a children’s camp all summer, and is accustomed to accommodating a variety of dietary restrictions. Camp is tree nut / peanut aware, and can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, celiac, and gluten free diets. You’ll be asked for dietary restrictions when you register, and we will do our best to accommodate you. IF, however, you would prefer to bring your own meals and/or snacks, as long as you don’t bring a jar of peanut butter or a snickers bar, outside food is welcome.
AlcoholWe have secured a liquor licence for the weekend, so alcohol is permitted. Please bring your drinks in cans only, know your limit, and don’t be a jerk.
