I will eat almost anything you put in front of me. Of course some things are more awesome than others, but I am fine with whatever you choose.

I don't like sriracha, falafel, or formal wear.

The only thing that surprises me from your list is the formal wear.

Formal wear sounds difficult (who owns formal wear), UNMUSTASHIAN (are we going to hire it), and easier for some than others (locals with cars could bring it). Whereas appearing in free stuff you have found around the camp... Or as a cheesburger...

What is the current exchange rate and USD to pay this month? I am ready to pay...

@elaine amj your expert advice is needed...
I'm here! I'm here!

For January payments, I'm going with an exchange rate of 0.8. Please take your balance owing and multiply it with 0.8  (e.g. CDN 265 would be USD $212).

Cheers,
Your friendly neighbourhood banker

This is about as formal as I get. I mean, I can bring the dress, it doesn't take up much space. Lost the hat, though.

How about formal wear optional, but encouraged?

I would not be able to eat a sriracha meatball.  Depending on the amount of sriracha in the air, I may not even be able to get close to the party :(  I vote no.

Are you severely allergic? As much as I like chile sauces, I don't think it's worth it to have people who won't be able to participate.

Weren't there lamb meatballs? Those were good!!

Not allergic, but highly sensitive to "spicy".  Had to change tables at a restaurant recently because the people at the next table had buffalo wings.

Falafel and lamb meatballs sound divine!

OKAY - I get it. Formal wear optional. Really though I was hoping to see MM in some of that sweet, sweet, vintage getup.  I've even been watching for leisure suits at Value Village. I think I could rock the wide lapels and bell bottoms. Maybe I'll find a pattern and learn to sew.

In other news, the current menu shows Meatball party on Friday night (this year we may be able to hold it outdoors and have music!!) and the Chili for dinner on Saturday. Food prices really shot up this year (like into WOW zone, so I'm pressuring Erica to make it 50% tastier. If she delivers, we may explode with deliciousness. I am not asking for butter tarts again since they sortof missed the mark last year.

With one week until payment due I have received payment for a little over half the spots awarded. Here's hoping we see a flood of payments this week. Otherwise the waitlist will be very happy. FWIW, Some payments are with our US Payment Services, and I have one cheque to deposit, so its not as bad as it looks at first blush. I'll ask guest services to email out reminders to folks we're still waiting on.

Today I have to send a cheque to the venue, and I need to order schwag soon. Cash in, cash out. Its the ying and yang of it.

@Prospector - maybe you should give one last email nudge to the lottery folks who haven’t ponied up yet? I know you did a while back, but just a suggestion.

Regardless of attire suggested, I’ll probably be wearing rabbit themed shirts all weekend, just like last year ;)

OK guys, I have to confess - I do not remember all of the meatball flavours last year - and I don't think I even tried all of them, but I'm like, 80% sure there weren't lamb meatballs. I mean, I could be wrong, and I do think there were Mediterranean meatballs, but I don't remember lamb.

If I bring a lamb, could we meatball it after petting it?

-Hey where did that cute lamb go?

If you bring a lamb, Harbinger Dude will want to bring bunnies. This will turn into a petting zoo instead of a camp.

There was Asian (pork I think), the Mediterranean could have been lamb - maybe - I vaguely remember there was lamb (but I could be wrong). THERE WERE SO MANY FLAVOURS - IT WAS AMAZING!

One was BBQ, one was Greek (I think it was chicken, not lamb), there was the falafel, and then one other flavor.

There was a marinara one, too.

I'm sure a picture of the meatball spread exists.  Prosp, do you have an old copy of the menu in your email archives?

This won't be a surprise to anyone following his journal, but I'm happy to make the first speaker announcement for CM*TO:

HarbringerofBunnies/TheGoblinChief has volunteered to lead a breakout session on urban homesteading - from growing, putting up, and eating throughout the year - with a side of home schooling, sustainability and small scale permaculture. I'm excited to hear about growing crops, as well as raising meat rabbits and egg laying chickens in Milwaukee where neighbours and winter might stop less hearty folks. But not everything is sunshine and roses - anyone who has followed HarbringerofBunnies knows there have been setbacks and lots of learning along the way.

For those who want to learn more before the breakout session, HarbingerofBunnies' current journal can be found at: https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/journals/better-f*cks-better-problems

July 2 - unfortunately HarbringerofBunnies won't be able to lead a breakout session this year.

More than we had at this point last year - not enough to sink the camp though. I think folks are holding off while they wonder what is going on with Vancouver/Baja/etc. But there is also a healthy waitlist, so lots of people will be made happy in the next week.

85? With only two per room? Are we using additional buildings this time, or do the extra bedrooms take care of that?

I reserved more cabins to allow more space and more shower time. So yeah, there will only be 6 people per side of a cabin, and 2 per room. It's nearly Club Med.

Bonus Points are applied to your Volleyhockey ball score following the formula of: y=23((n)th root(surface temperature of Lake Tanganyika/N^(78.6/pi))/current age of the Mongolian Secretary of State)

Where n is your bonus points and y is the points added to your volleyhockey ball score.

Is one of the cabins called CLUB MED?

No, but one is the Death Star.

How about a CLUB BED?

Very clever. Bonus points to you!!

:)  If I accumulate enough bonus points, can I get a free tshirt?

Bonus Points are applied to your Volleyhockey ball score following the formula of: y=23((n)th root(surface temperature of Lake Tanganyika/N^(78.6/pi))/current age of the Mongolian Secretary of State)

Where n is your bonus points and y is the points added to your volleyhockey ball score.

Even better.  I don't look good in tshirts.

If you actually come back with an answer, I'm going to have to verify it, aren't I? I should have remembered there are smart ppl around here before posting.

Please do share what you find; my Volleyhockey ball score kind of depends on it.

The surface of the lake is 773 meters (2,536 feet) above sea level. It has an average surface temperature of 25°C (77°F). Lake Tanganyika has a retention time (the measurement of time that water spends in a particular lake) of 440 years.

"Average" is not part of the formula. (I did find the current air temperature, but not water temperature. I think I'm safe)
